…Translation
in English…
She was
born in May 1718 and she died in Milan .
She was an Italian philosopher and math woman, who wrote a speech
defending the women’s education in 1727, and she also had command in Greek,
French, Spanish, Latin and German since 1731. She was known as “Agnesi Witch”. Maybe
she was called as a witch because of a bad English translation.
In 1738, she
started to concentrate herself on the study of maths and religion, giving up the social
activity.
In 1748 she
published her first book, called Instituzioni analítiche ad uso Della gioventú
italiana . It is about integral and differential calculus.
Since she
was 54 years old until she died because of sickness in January 1799, she was
the headmaster of the Hospice Trivulzio
in Milan, where she looked after and cared sick and needy people.
